| Sparky Sparky is a beautiful Red Male. He was born on September 15, 2004. Sparky's foster Mom says, "Sparky is a very sweet and loveable boy. He thrives on cuddling. He is getting along very well with the other greyhounds in the house. Sparky has excellent bathroom manners -- no accidents. He whines when he needs to go outside. As for leash manners, Sparky is a very good boy. He walks nicely once we get past the first few exciting moments. He loves playing with his squeaky toys and will toss them, pounce, then play-bow. He has a sparkling personality! "Sparky seems to enjoy meeting people, including children. We ran into a group of six kids playing on our walk last night and he was very tolerant of them all petting him -- though I did have to ask them to take turns. When all six surrounded him at once, it made him nervous. "Someone is going to be a very lucky person when they adopt this boy. He's an absolute gem, beautiful, and very desirous of earning your praise. "He's eating like a pig -- loves food and will put his paws up on the kitchen counter. Tsk tsk. We're working on that. "However, I'm not convinced that he is cat safe... maybe Amy isn't assertive enough? He will not leave her alone. At first, I thought it was simply curiousity, but yesterday afternoon, he started to lunge at her when I bring her out of the back bedroom. Because of this, I'm keeping him muzzled unless I've got her cat-room door closed. I put up a baby-gate up across the hall to keep the dogs confined to the kitchen, living room & doggie door exit. Species Apartheid. "Amy is spending most of her time under the bed despite the barrier. She didn't do this with Rio, even though Rio pestered her a lot at first. I think Amy knew Rio just wanted to play, but she doesn't perceive Sparky in the same way. "He is also struggling with the concept of using the doggie door. I will be going home at lunch because he isn't using the door by himself. He'll go through it, but only if I hold it open and give him a ton of encouragement. I beleive he will learn it with time, but he has a measure of timidity for new things and the dog door seems to fit into this category." Check on Sparky's Pedigree Interested in adopting Sparky? |
